Song of the Day Season II

Btw, I'm bringing Song of the Day back, and what better song than this to start it off again? ;) ---

This needs a Title?

Watching Gangs of Wasseypur with your mom sitting by your side can be a surreal experience. Believe me. It happened to last Sunday. Both of us had already watched it earlier, so we went in after it had already started. An hour into it though, we were so engrossed, we didn't want to leave to grab dinner. We finally did, and afterwards, went in to catch the end as well. :) My mom remembered how it ended better than I did though. I actually really like the two-part film- very well made and interesting as hell.

I've been in Mussoorie with my mom the past week and it was a little weird from the last time I'd visited her during mid-career training (incidentally that was 10 years back, wow, I'm really growing ancient aren't I?) because unlike last time, my sister wasn't there, so it was somewhat strange being the only 'kid' around. I had fun though. Didn't accomplish all that I'd planned to on the short trip, but still managed to complete some of it. So I'd had these grand plans of sketching, painting, writing, honing my photography skills- things you do at hill stations...but i ended up spending most of my time- guess what? *surprise surprise*- sleeping and watching tv :) That's what happens to you when you take a break from campus life. Speaking of which, I really needed this break, cause sometimes you're surrounded by so many people that you just don't get any time for yourself, and that time with yourself is one of the most precious (and probably useful) gifts in the world. Anyway, I digress. Going back to the point, I'd thought I'd be going on long solitary walks to the town, speculating, just me and my thoughts, but like I said, I ended up being lazy and not stepping out of the room till my mom made me :P Evenings were full though, when her classes would be over, there'd be a film screening, then dinner...or a walk before that. :)

I saw this really interesting movie called Jack Casino, on American lobbyists and corruption, it was very very good. Can't remember the name of the guy who was the protagonist, but I know he's acted in quite a few other movies as well. The first day they were about to screen this one, we got to the place and discovered they were showing Silsila instead (y'know cause of Yash Chopra and all) and we ended up watching that for a while, but then my mom got so disgusted with the movie we left :P. Hehe. :)

I did end up taking several pics though...from my DSLR :D...which I'm still figuring out how to use :P But hey, some of them are pretty good, so I'll put them up sometime soon.

Ok, I;m getting kinda tired of typing, but I do have a lot more to say, so I'll be back soon :)

Ciao!

Quagmire of Thoughts

So yesterday I watched a movie and usually when I watch a movie I've formed an opinion during or atleast by the end of it. However, yesterday, after watching this movie, I was unsure. I couldn't quite say whether I liked it or not. The movie was, in fact, Ishaqzaade, and I'd been wanting to watch it for months. Now, the thing is I found a lot of the screenplay and story very random (or convenient at times). Even though it was cute, I couldn't help thinking- that is so incredibly stupid or unbelievable.

I like Parineeti Chopra a lot...ever since Ladie Vs Ricky Bahl...and I liked her in this movie as well, but her character was frankly kinda dumb. Naive and gullible actually....I don't know, the characters didn't seem to act like their personalities should. And they were not really developed too well. Some of the characters like the male protagonist's mom, could've actually been developed further.

:| I guess, maybe I'll watch it one more time....

I really liked the soundtrack though. :)
